Final Concept

Today, were going to make our final concept. We just listened to some tips about presentations from Jan Jonk. We came acros several complications with our machine. These were the laudry mod and the indexation of clothes that were already in the users possesion. We came up with the idea of strips that will be placed on the inner sides of the closet, these can be placed in any closet, which will scan the clothes that go in and out the closet. Now you will know what you've got in your closet and what you don't have in your closet at the moment of opening it. It will be environment friendly for the stirps will only be activated by the opening of the closet.

Paper prototype

Today we finnished our user journey. The user journey was a good way to look at the real experiance of the persona's we made. Because of this we came to the conclusion we still needed to find a better way to link our smart closet to the actual stores. How are the users going to use it in stores, at home and when doing the laundry. All of these points came back at us and we needed to think out our concept better.

Tomorrow we will think out our concept one last time to get all of the kinks out. This we will be doing by paperprototype. We made a good start today. But tomorrow we will complete it and start interviewing people to find out what they think of it and if they can find there way in our interface.

These were our extreme users, we made a general user an extremly positive user and a negative user. Through these users we learned some of the user needs. Things as the look of our machine, the interfaces, that it needs to be mobile and that people want a complete view of their collection and so want to use our machine to complete their own taste.

We made a web of things we though of when brainstormed about fashion. We underlined all the intresting subjects. We chose diffrent subject which might be intresting to build our concept on. These subject were: Technology, gadgets. environment, repeat, closet, recycle, sales and customizing.

We went futuremapping. The future map gave us some insight in the development of our world. Because of this, we could see which developments took place and which we could use and improve.

We took some of the intresting things from our fashion brainstorm and tried to make some concepts. We took the technology and the closet as main subjects. You can find our concepts under the blog with the name: "Research"

We wrote down our Design Challange and our Succes Criteria. You can find these under the blog with the name: "1st real concept"

We made a usermatrix to get a clear vieuw of our users.

We came up with some Extreme Users which we wanted to interview, the profiles of these users can be found under the blog with the name: "Our Extreme users"

We made a stakeholdermap of all the persons and organisations we could come acros with. By this we found out that there is alot more to it then we thought at first. It isn't only the user, there are alot of organisations and shops that could also come acros with our machine.

We made a timeline of the lives of our extreme users. Now we can understand our extreme users better.

Presentation

Today we made preperations for tomorros presentation.

We split up the presentation in to two persona's parts. Thirst we will tell are concept in a nutschell. Then we will explain how are concept will help both of these persona's using it. After that we will tell more about the actual object we have in mind for the people to use it. Me and Nicky will be doing this presentation together.

We gave our presentation and all went well. The reactions we got from our audience was mostly positive and intresting to work with. We came to the understanding that our concept is clear and that there is alot of potential in it. We're going to work on the full completion of our concept and try to make it perfect

Interview extreem users

Today we made a survey to interview the extreem users we think will help us the best with there knowledge.

Nicky and me made a survey of 15 questions long. We both are going to interview 2 people individualy today. Tomorro we will share eachothers interviews and see what we can do with the information to improve our concept.

We both discussed the outcomes of the questionairs. Here you can find some of the most intresting findings:
People love the idea of an index, but not for the forgetting of clothes, more for keeping track of the clothes they didn't wear for some time.
People who don't care for fashion don't like the idea of a smart closet at all. So our aim is at those who do like fashion.

1ste Real Concept

Today we did alot of brainstorm exercises. Like mindmapping and future mapping. As a result of all of this we made up a concept.

Concept in a nutshell - Smart closet

We want to make a closet that knows what clothes are in your closet. With this information the closet will give you new combinations in how to wear them in a new fashionable way. This way the user will get more out of his/her clothing before buying any new stuff. In the long run this will make a differance for our enviroment.

What?
A smart closer that knows your clothes and gives you new hints and fashion combinations. Making it easyer to stay fashionable longer with the same clothes.
How?
By registering all of your clothes in to the closet. The system knows these products and gets the images out of the shops databasis.
When?
Every morgin when you dressup. Everytime you buy something new.
When is our concept a succes?
When statistics show us that a person who uses the closet actually buys less clothes then they did before when not using the closet.


After this we got the assignment to field research. Nicky and I will do this seperatelty and mail eachothers findings later on tonight.

PS Kostas mailed me again. Unfortunately he is sick again. I gave him Jan's email so he can mail him about this him selve.

Research

Just now we discussed the answers we both found on the questions. We made a summery of the most important things.

we figured out that we needed to design something unique and new. We started to think, brainstorm and tried to make something with these two criteria. We came up with three ideas: Clothes which can be changed with the use of a single button. A closet which makes your own clothes. And a closet which will keep track of your collection and gives advice.

Homework

We decided to do are research at home seperately. Tomorrow we will studie both are answers and make a final choice.

Kostas has phoned me about today's lesson. I told him he can join are group and I mailed him the questions to research aswell.
